In the tradition of the Eternal Summer of the Black Feminist Mind Potluck Series and the Queer Black Sunday School process of sacred reclamation we will gather in the name of poet, inventor, astronomer, astrologer Benjamin Banneker for a reflective, meditative Sunday writing session at
on Sunday Dec. 2nd
at Inspiration Station II in Durham, NC
(email firstname.lastname@example.org for directions)
Together we will create and share our own almanacs, visions and life-changing inventions.
We will add our writing/drawing to a the Wheatley session writings towards a box-set of tiny origami books of poems to send into the world as evidence of how the sky in the eyes of a Black man who pays attention to patterns is power beyond measure.
As a special bonus Sister Colleague Tara Bynum, an expert on 18th and 19th century black brilliance will be coming all the way from Baltimore (where Benjamin Banneker lived) to join us!!!!!! You can see some of our ongoing dialogue here: http://phillisweekly.tumblr.com/
Please bring a pen and your journal and some Sunday delicious food to share 🙂
